“At the Crossroads” - A tribute to Nondon Bagchi says Sarmistha Maiti

At the crossroads : Nondon Bagchi life and living by Rajdeep Paul and Sarmistha Maiti depicts the biographical documentary of a wonderfully engaging personality, Nondon Bagchi, a  Rock and Jazz Musician in India who still plays 60s rock at the age of 60, with shades of a near chaotic lifestyle, set in a period known for its path-breaking music.Sarmistha stressed that the documentary does not end with Nondon Bagchi alone but it tells the saga of entire generation of musicians.It is more or less a film on passion and pain, love and lost. They received Special Mention to Directors' Award at the 61st National Indian Film Awards 2013 for their film "At the Crossroads: Nondon Bagchi Life and Living”. She spoke about her film in the Press Meet held at Press Club on behalf of the 7th International Documentray and Short Film Festival of Kerala.Shashwati Talukdar’s 'Wall Stories' is about how a dispossessed saint, a newly minted gentry and generations of painters created a syncretic culture in the Western Himalayas. She selected the locale of her Wall Stories as Utharakhand as the story has close connection with it.Gaurav Saxena’s “Freedom” pictures a  Tibetan refugee boy growing in the small Himalayan hill town of Dharamshala - exiled home of The Dalai Lama, and he stumbles upon his exiled refugee identity when he’s told there is an invisible ‘R’ written on his forehead.Sivaramakrishnan’s first venture “Target” is a short film which shows the struggle of a corporate employee in a day. His pain to achieve the target point is clearly brought out here. Makarand Dambhare, a student at the FTII’s “Maneesha 1941” is a personal history of a space that left a mark on the cultural landscape of Maharashtra. It’s a brief moment of memories in an empty home before the imminent demolition and assimilation into the urban-scape.Tribeny Rai,a student of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute came with her maiden film Patient No.666 and Others  uncovers the journey of a certain patient no. 666. The journey reveals the hidden chamber which is believed to house the ‘guardian’ who heals all fear. Unaware of the consequence she ventures into this kingdom. The Press Meet was made interactive by the participants who asked their queries to make it a lively one.
